Meteorite Fragments from Berlin Explosion Identified.

On January 21st, 2024, a meter-sized asteroid, designated as 2024 BX1, entered Earth's atmosphere and landed in Berlin. Prior to its terrestrial encounter, 2024 BX1 belonged to the Apollo group of Near-Earth Asteroids, bearing characteristics of a rare subtype known as "aubrites." The name "aubrites" originates from Aubrés, France, where a similar meteorite landed in 1836. These specimens, lacking significant iron content and featuring a distinct glassy crust, pose unique challenges for detection and classification in the field.

New Satellite Mesh Network is Up. Livermore, California-based space startup Aalyria ispartnering with the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), to create "hybrid space architecture" designed to enhance connectivity and operational capabilities.
